Project 2 – Bixby Park Bluff Improvements

Grading

Existing bluff was graded to provide smooth passage way and storm drain swale from the top of bluff to the beach. Total of 3,800 CY of dirt were cut and filled during grading. Also, unforeseen concrete structures and sand pockets were removed from the slope.

Concrete Works

Total of 10,500 SF of New Concrete ADA walkway and Four Staircases were constructed to provide pathway down to the beach. The retaining walls were installed along with walkway where necessary and concrete gutters were installed to control storm water.

Site Utilities

New irrigation system with booster pump was installed to provide adequate water coverage for the plants. This irrigation system has an automated controller to control 32 stations throughout the site. Also, we installed new electrical service pedestal to receive power from Edison Co, and installed new LED light fixtures along with walkway.

Landscape and Site Furnishing

Thousands of California native plants were installed on the slope and 35,000 SF of Hybrid Bermuda sods were installed on the top of bluff. For the site furnishing, Boulders, Benches, Drinking fountain, Trash Bins, Emergency call boxes, and 1,700 LF of Stainless Steel Guardrails were installed.
